Ronald P. Bangasser, MD was appointed to the AMA Foundation Board of Directors in October 2002. He is the Director of External Affairs at Beaver Medical Group in Redlands.
Dr. Bangasser is a board-certified family physician and Director of External Affairs for the Beaver Medical Group in Redlands. In March 2003, he was elected President of the California Medical Association House of Delegates, CMA’s policy-making body. Previously, he served as Chair of the CMA Committee on Managed Care, Vice Chair of the CMA Hospital Medical Staff Section Executive Board, and President and Board Chair of the California Foundation for Medical Care. He currently is a member of the California Delegation to the AMA and in June 2005, he was re-elected to AMA’s Council of Medical Service. He also serves on the AMA Physician Consortium on Performance Measures.
In 2002, he was appointed to the NCQA’s Committee on Performance Measurements and the Practicing Physicians’ Advisory Committee. He also joined the Board of the Integrated Healthcare Association in 2001 and chairs their Pay for Performance Technical Committee.
Dr. Bangasser received a medical degree from Chicago Medical School and served his residency at the San Bernardino County Medical Center and the University of California, Los Angeles. He is Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice and an associate professor at Loma Linda University Medical Center. |

Jeff Blair is the Director of Health Informatics for the New Mexico Health Information Collaborative (NMHIC) at Lovelace Clinic Foundation. During 2005, Mr. Blair served as the facilitator for the development of the New Mexico Regional Health Information Organization (NM RHIO). He was appointed by the U.S. House of Representatives to the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics (NCVHS) in 1997. The U.S. Congress directed NCVHS to evaluate, select, and recommend standards for HIPAA, electronic health records systems, and e-prescribing networks between 1996 and 2004. Virtually all of the NCVHS recommendations on these topics have been adopted as federal regulations. In 2006 the Office of the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology (ONCHIT) asked the NCVHS to recommend the minimal but essential functional requirements for the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN). As Co-Chair of the NCVHS Subcommittee on Standards and Security, Mr. Blair has played a leadership role in all of these recommendations. Mr. Blair was Vice-President of the Medical Records Institute in Boston, MA, from 1997-2004, and held a variety of management and staff positions during his 30-year career with IBM. Mr. Blair has his MBA from Northwestern University. |
Robert Wah

October 2005, Robert Wah was appointed acting Deputy National Coordinator in the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, Department of Health and Human Services. Dr. Wah is a Captain, Medical Corps, U.S. Navy.
In his previous position, CAPT Wah was Associate Chief Information Officer for Clinical Informatics and Director, Information Management Division, Military Health System (MHS), Department of Defense (DoD). The MHS cares for more than 9.1 million beneficiaries worldwide, with 130,800 medical personnel at 70 military hospitals and 411 medical clinics. He has extensive experience with defining requirements, program development, and budget management for new healthcare IM/IT systems. CAPT Wah works with the field users (MHS providers) of DoD’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. He serves as the interface with both clinical background and IM/IT knowledge between end users and program development. Dr. Wah helped manage and direct the portfolio of healthcare IM/IT tools totaling more than $800 million annually.
Dr. Wah did his internship and residency at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda. He did his fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. He has held faculty appointments at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, University of California-San Diego, and Harvard Medical School. CAPT Wah developed the Population Health Improvement Guide for DoD. Board certified in both Obstetrics/Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology, Dr. Wah also served as Vice Chairman of the Navy's largest OB/GYN Department. He currently sees patients and works with residents and fellows at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD, and at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. |
